WHO WE ARE
H.E.R. (Heal. Empower. Restore.) Refuge is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Lenawee County offering a free, faith-based, long-term residential treatment program for female adolescents. We exist to serve girls, ages thirteen to seventeen, battling depression, anxiety, self-harm, substance abuse, and eating disorders as well as those who are survivors of abuse, neglect, and trauma. Our community has limited treatment options as there are currently no long-term residential treatment programs in our area and no faith-based programs in southeast Michigan. Girls may also experience limited access to other long-term residential treatment programs due to waiting lists, financial hindrances and transportation barriers. H.E.R. Refuge aims to overcome these challenges by providing a high quality, faith-based residential treatment program in Lenawee County at no cost to the families in need of this service.
Presently, we are raising funds in order to make this vision become a reality.
The heart of our program is reflected in our name. Our holistic approach is tailored to offer teen girls and their families healing, empowerment, and restoration.
Core components of our program include:
Individual, group, and family counseling
Bible studies and small groups
Life skills training
Health and wellness
H.E.R. Refuge was founded by Lynsey Rye, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Michigan. Through her work with female adolescents in various capacities over the past 16 years, Lynsey identified the need for a safe place where hurting girls could come and receive healing, empowerment, and restoration through Jesus Christ. Based on her professional experience, she knew that for some girls outpatient or intensive home-based therapy was simply not enough. After consulting with other mental health professionals and organizations, Lynsey found that a long-term residential treatment facility was necessary to meet these needs. In 2015, Lynsey founded H.E.R. Refuge and formed the Board of Directors. Since then, they have been working together to make this dream a reality. Learn how you can help.
